Who we are and how to reach our services.

The Green Will Conservancy Inc.

Friendship House and our Lava Tree Social Work Community in Hawaii is based upon the Social Work Settlement House traditions. This close-knit enclave of non-related social work professionals “Ohana-Hui” live in proximity – adjacent lots from one an other, fostering a collaborative environment dedicated to shared goals and initiatives that seek to adhere to the local Hawaiian values of younger persons caring for the elders and teaching and learning together for the betterment and service to the larger Nanawale community. We encourage other social workers and native healers to consider purchasing contiguous or nearby lots in order to expand our professional neighborhood network and lift the spirit in our adjacent Nanawale Community.

Access to our current “Friendship House” services office is conveniently located on the left side of a private social worker’s residence designated as 14-803b Seaview Rd. 96778. We offer daily and weekly “online” Green Will Programs for youth and families, including the weekly Friday Adult Resourcing Group from 2-3 pm This EMDR inspired model adult psycho-educational support group is designed for family supporters, community and foster caregivers and therapists who want to clone this demo model group in their EMDR practices. Additionally, join us for our bi-weekly Saturday EMDR (PLC) Professional Learning Community meetings from 10:30 am to noon, which includes cross-training and peer review for therapists. Most of our individual or family EMDR therapy sessions are conducted online for your convenience.

We also host physical food gatherings for our teen-elder “On the land Hui Manao’ garden lab>food insecurity program” approximately every six weeks during the school season. The weekly teen-elder RAP group meets online weekly on Sundays from 10:30am to noon. Despite the last 8yrs of challenges from COVID and the prior 2 evacuations from volcanic disasters, hurricanes and threats of nuclear missiles directed at Hawaii, we are still here. Before COVID, professionals from the EMDR Institute held small group trainings and conferences at “Friendship House”, followed by intensive training sessions for Hawaii’s Behavioral Health Therapists. Currently, we also welcome MA/MSW student interns and researchers studying and who are willing to serve the needs of rural Hawaiians as we are physically located in one of the most at risk local Hawaiian communities in the State. Post COVID, most services and trainings migrated online. Survey of clientele overwhelming choose online access to private mental health care lowering costs and increasing access for Hawaii’s under-resourced teens, adults and the elderly We will continue to outreach to invite other non-profit programs to hold their meetings on the GWC Sanctuary land and/or for access to the food insecurity forest programs during the times when the food is ready for harvesting.
